ABB has launched My Measurement Assistant+, a web application combining generative AI, cloud computing, and augmented reality to help maintenance teams troubleshoot industrial measurement devices. The company projects the tool can resolve the majority of technical support issues in minutes, boosting first-time fix rates by up to 50 percent.
The application integrates with ABB Ability Genix Copilot, a generative AI platform developed jointly with Microsoft. What's new here is the consolidation of previously scattered resources: documentation, error codes, spare part details, device diagnostics, and live remote support all surface through a single interface, accessible from any device. The Genix Copilot integration delivers role-based views, so a maintenance manager sees different information than a field technician without reconfiguring the tool.
Maintenance engineers can scan any device using Dynamic QR Code functionality and immediately pull up a health report and device-specific analysis. The AR-based Visual Remote Support feature lets technicians initiate secure video calls with ABB experts, reducing on-site visits and, according to ABB, increasing uptime by resolving problems faster.
"My Measurement Assistant+ is now at the heart of ABB's comprehensive digital measurement offering," said David Lincoln, Global Digital Lead at ABB Measurement & Analytics. "It empowers frontline workers by offering the right information at the right time and the right place, reliably." Microsoft Enterprise Commercial Director Sonja Meindl added that the Genix Copilot integration "transforms the way maintenance and service is performed."
ABB plans to add Condition Monitoring and Genix Datalyzer to the platform over time. The 50 percent first-time fix rate claim carries weight in field service contexts where repeat visits generate both direct labor costs and lost production time for the customer site.
