Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
outoftol media ("outoftol", "we", "us") operates outoftol.news (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the terms described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you visit the Site, and information we receive from third-party services we use to run the Site.
- Contact form: when you send us a message we receive the email address, name (if provided), and message content you submit.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe to our email list we collect your email address and basic engagement data (opens, clicks) from our email provider.
- Automatic data: like most sites, our servers and analytics tools record IP address, browser type, referrer, pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP), and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 4 for details.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our editorial coverage.
- Respond to messages, tips, and partnership inquiries you send us.
- Send the newsletter and related transactional emails (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Understand how readers find and use the Site, in aggregate, through analytics.
- Detect, prevent, and address security or abuse issues (spam, scraping, fraud).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. Service providers
We rely on third-party services to operate the Site. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms. They include:
- Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Plausible) to measure traffic and content performance.
- Email delivery for the newsletter and transactional messages.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our servers and database.
- Anti-abuse services (e.g., Cloudflare Turnstile) to protect forms from spam and automated abuse.
We do not share contact-form messages or newsletter lists with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies required to deliver the Site, remember preferences, and keep forms working. These cannot be turned off.
- Analytics cookies set by our analytics providers to understand how the Site is used in aggregate.
- Marketing cookies may be set when we run promotional campaigns or partner integrations. These help measure campaign performance and may share limited data with the campaign provider.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect parts of the Site.
5. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To exercise these rights, email privacy@outoftol.news. We will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.
California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood, but to exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address above.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any newsletter email.
6. Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Contact-form messages and newsletter subscriptions are retained until you ask us to delete them or until they are no longer relevant to the conversation.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we ever learn of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify affected users as required by law.
7. International users
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection rules than your home country.
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice on the Site.
